BE HAPPY.

Summer is great. SO BE HAPPY! WOOOOO!!! :)

Friends also make summer great!

Every Wednesday night my friends and I get together and we play v-ball, sing and have a Bible study! It's so refreshing to get together and study Gods word in the middle of a work week! I really enjoy it and also enjoy having Christian friends that actually want to study God's word and worship HIM! :)

HELL???

Last night the pastor was talking about how we don't really talk about hell and final judgement much. Like we all have friends that aren't Christians so should we be telling them what is going to happen...? Jesus did. However, the pastor also talked about how we should look on people with the same love and mercy that Jesus saved us with before we were granted eternal life...challenging? I think so.

Just something to think about!

Service Weekend...

Hello Everyone,

This past weekend I was able to participate in a service weekend that myself and a few friends organized for my churches Youth Group!

Our theme for the weekend was that it could be fun to share the gifts/talents that God has given you!

On Friday night all nine of us went to Hamilton beach where we had a chance to talk, sing and have a Bible Study!

Saturday was a day full of service projects. We started the morning off by having a car wash to raise money for Streetlight Ministries. We were able to raise $200 so that this ministry can hopefully buy a new bus! After the car wash we went to Mission services where we sorted some clothing that they hope to hand out at a barbeque that they are having in August! Later we went to a school where we prepared food for a Mexican Soccer outreach! Finally we headed back to the church for a cafe night! Here we were able to share our musical talents with the Sheffield Community as well as our church community!

Looking back on the weekend I can see that God was definitely part of it! He brought cars to come and get washed so that we could raise money, he brought people to the cafe, he kept us safe, he blessed us, etc. HE WAS THERE!!! It is such a cool thing to witness that God is REAL! HE loves us!

We hope to do another service weekend next year where we will possibly do some more challenging activities! But until then, the nine of us that participated in this weekend will be able to savour the amazing memories that were made through serving others as well as serving God! :)

Summer.

I was just listening to a song by Hillsong. Its called Majesty. This song is so meaningful for me because it talks about coming before God and telling Him that we are His and His alone! God laid down His life to save us. He chose to love us...doesn't that make us want to love Him also? Sadly many people choose to say NO. I do it myself sometimes. But God always has His ways of making sure that we know life without Him sucks big time! God is love and knows what is best for our lives! We should become humbled by his Majesty!

This reminds me of my Profession of Faith on May 23, 2010. My profession was this:

"I believe in Jesus Christ. He died on the cross to save me from all my sins. I am excited for the day when Jesus calls me to Himself and I will see my Saviour face to face praising Him for eternity. But until that day, I promise to obey God's law and be a servant unto you all and share in the communion of the saints praising and worshipping out awesome God forever!"

God is so GOOD!!

In Christ,

Chris Merkus

Everything is Swell

So I was just looking at the calendar and realized that my first semester of University is basically over.  Like less than three weeks and I will be writing my first ever Uni finals...don't know what to think about that.  This past Monday was the one month left date....if that makes sense...haha

And there is more good news....I haven't failed anything and don't plan to. Basically I am doing pretty good...but if I'm wanting to get into my teaching program I will have to work harder...somehow. End of story.

Also I have met sooo many people at University....like honestly sooo many great people.  I'm soo thankful that God has blessed me with friends so that these post-secondary years will be great.

God is sooo great!!!

Oh! This leads me to chapel which happens every single wednesday morning at Redeemer.  It is basically a mid-week recharge which is definitely needed during the midterm/paper writing season.

Well that's all.
